- Gastric Bypass Surgery (Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass) : This procedure involves creating a small pouch at the top of the stomach and connecting it to the small intestine, bypassing the rest of the stomach and part of the small intestine. This reduces the amount of food you can eat and limits calorie absorption.
- Sleeve Gastrectomy : In this surgery, a large portion of the stomach is removed, leaving a small, banana-shaped stomach. This reduces the amount of food you can eat and can decrease your appetite.
- Gastric Banding (Lap-Band or Realize Band):A band is placed around the upper part of the stomach, creating a small pouch. This band can be adjusted to control the size of the pouch and the rate at which food passes through it.
- Intragastric Balloon:A deflated balloon is placed into the stomach and then filled with saline or another fluid to take up space, reducing the amount of food you can eat.
- Mini Gastric Bypass:A simplified version of the traditional gastric bypass, this surgery creates a smaller stomach pouch and reroutes the small intestine.
